music composition for Klavier Nonette installation by sound artist Trimpin
commissioned by The American Composers Forum and The Philharmonic Society of Orange County, U.S., 2001

Trimpin's work is made up of nine MIDI-adapted toy pianos, placed around an exhibition hall. The public uses a jukebox to select and play different pieces of music created for this ensemble. Alba Triana was part of the group of composers invited to write for Klavier Nonette.

Her piece consists of a sound continuum held and transformed by means of rotations among the nine pianos, evoking a “precision mechanism.” The toy pianos’ delicate tuning differences generate a coloristic process, altered by the sound movement among the keyboards and the listener’s motion through the installation.
