suspended needles in electromagnetic field

An array of suspended needles perform an intricate choreography driven by an electromagnetic field. The movements are aleatoric. However, established conditions, like the distances between needles and coils and the strength of the field, make the movements predictable in a general sense. Variable degrees of randomness and organization make the choreography evocative of natural systems, like swarms, flocks of birds, or crowds in the streets.
