Biography

ALBA FERNANDA TRIANA

A constant interest in expanding the meaning of composition, performance and aesthetic musical experience has made Triana’s work embrace technological developments she has encountered and freely appropriate elements from different artistic, scientific and philosophical disciplines. This reflects in a, difficult-to-classify, hybrid musical production, which takes form in nonconventional and varied formats, ranging from concert music, interactive installations, sound and light sculptures to vibrational objects.

 

Her work has been shown in renowned concert halls, festivals, galleries museums and non-conventional venues in Latin America, the United States and Europe. Her numerous awards and recognitions have made her one of the most distinguished Colombian artists of the time.

 

Triana earned her Bachelor's degree at Javeriana University (Colombia), achieving Academic Excellence and Merits. As a Fulbright and Mazda scholar, she obtained double emphasis Master's degree in Composition New Media | Integrated Media at California Institute of the Arts, and began her PhD studies at Univerity of California, San Diego.

 

She has worked as college professor at Javeriana and Pedagógica Universities (Colombia), and has been consultant for the Art Department of Colombian Ministry of Culture. She currently dedicates herself to her artistic production, managed in the U.S. by Music Artwoks LLC. She is member of the Executive Board of Directors of the South Florida Composers Alliance.
